Dr. Omkar Rai is the Director-General of STPI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India. Under his leadership, STPI has been providing services to IT/ITES/ESDM industry for the profasal of software exports and entrepreneurship, innovation and product creation in the country. He is actively involved in various policy formulations required for the growth of the industry from time to time. Before STPI, he served National Informatics Centre in various capacities. He is serving as Chairman, AIC STPINEXT INITIATIVE and Director on the Board of Directors of MTNL-STPI IT Services Limited (MSITS), National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) & Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (HARTRON). He is a member of Governing Body of School of Open Learning (SOL), Delhi University (DU) and also a member on the Board of Governors (BoG) for the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) University, Bhubaneswar. He is the member in the vision group/advisory group for the Electronics and IT Department, Government of Odisha and also a member of IT Advisory Committee constituted to assist the DIT, Government of Goa. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Banaras Hindu University.
